Divergence is a phenomenon in which two or more streams of data move in different directions, often resulting in an opposite effect or outcome. It can be seen in economics when two markets or currencies move in opposite directions, or when two trends in a stock or other asset are moving in different directions. Divergence can also be seen in physical sciences, when two flows of air, water, or other objects move away from each other, or when electromagnetic waves are moving in directions that oppose each other.
